Joint Workshop Held for Welfare Class and Science Class of Two Different High Schools
On November 26th, we held a joint workshop between third-year students from the Welfare Department of Kawasaki Municipal Kawasaki High School and the Science Department of Kawasaki City High School for Science and Technology. Students from the Welfare Department, who complete 13 weeks of nursing care practice annually, brought numerous real-world challenges from the field to the table. Science Department students listened intently to the explanations, their serious expressions reflecting how most of this was entirely new information to them. Subsequently, various ideas emerged, such as airbags to prevent fractures during falls and amphibious wheelchairs enabling bathing while seated. The atmosphere became highly energized, defying the fact it was their first meeting. TV Kanagawa featured this event in its evening news that same day, highlighting the necessity of care education in high schools.

Facilitators included university researchers, CHANGE corporate experts, public health nurses, and Kawasaki City officials, who helped organize the rapid-fire stream of ideas coming from the high school students.
