Public Lecture: The Importance of “Care Competency” Revealed by Japan's Three Leading Causes of Death
On November 30th, we held an online public lecture for citizens. The keynote speaker was Dr. Koji Sekikawa, Director of the Second Kawasaki Sachi Clinic. Under the title “A Casual Discussion on Japan's Three Leading Causes of Death,” he provided an overview from a medical perspective on cancer, heart failure, and senility, and discussed approaches to care within the home. The subsequent panel discussion featured panelists Mr. Hiroaki Asada (Physical Therapist), Mr. Toshiya Urushihata (Pharmacist), Ms. Kuniko Masuda (Registered Dietitian), and Ms. Junko Fukai (Community Care Coordinator). They provided broad yet deeply insightful explanations about community-based integrated care and multidisciplinary collaboration from their respective professional perspectives. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with a 100% satisfaction rate.
