Halloween Walk with Nurses

On Saturday, October 25th, the “1st Connect Through the Tama River Halloween Walk” (Organizer: IZANAMI Sports Co., Ltd. / Cooperation: Project CHANGE, Kawasaki Nursing Association, Public Interest Incorporated Association, and others / Support: Kawasaki City) was held. A total of 50 participants, including nurses working in Kawasaki City (4 teams, 12 people), enjoyed a 15km long walk along the Tama River.
Project CHANGE aims to realize world-leading, optimal care in Kawasaki under the vision of “Achieving a Resilient, Healthy, Long-Lived Society through Medical-Engineering-Nursing Collaboration.” Japan faces a severe shortage of healthcare personnel, particularly in home healthcare settings where nurses play a central role in care, dedicating immense effort while staying close to patients. Therefore, CHANGE collaborated with the Kawasaki City Nursing Association to invite nurses within the city to participate in this event, aiming to enhance the well-being of nurses active on the front lines of care. The event was designed with the hope that nurses would change their uniforms into Halloween costumes and enjoy a relaxed time together with general participants.
We also received volunteer support from students at Kawasaki City College of Nursing. We prepared materials to widely promote Project CHANGE's activities and training sessions hosted by the Nursing Association. Unfortunately, the event started under cold rain and wind, causing some anxiety about whether anyone would come. However, we welcomed 20 energetic teams totaling 50 walkers, including four teams composed entirely of nurses. Participants enjoyed taking commemorative photos at photo checkpoints along the course and picking up litter (TRASH or TREAT) during the walk. The event culminated in a grand raffle featuring novelty items provided by our partner companies, creating a lively atmosphere. The event concluded successfully, filled with the smiles of all participants.
Project CHANGE will continue to actively work towards improving well-being in nursing practice.
