Held outreach lectures on challenges in a super-aged society for high school students in science courses

On September 30th, we held an outreach lecture for second-year students in the Science Department at Kawasaki Municipal Kawasaki Comprehensive Science High School, focusing on the realities of a super-aged society and creating future lifestyles. This session adapted the lecture given on September 10th to the Welfare Department at Kawasaki Municipal Kawasaki High School, specifically tailored for science students. They learned about the implications of the fact that while women's average life expectancy is significantly higher, the overall average life expectancy gap between men and women is not large, and the reality that the top three causes of death among Japanese people have changed significantly over the past decade. Executive Director Yagi of the Kawasaki City Nursing Association presented the current state of nursing care work and future challenges, prompting the science students to consider their future roles. In the latter workshop, they examined a correlation diagram created by welfare students showing factors affecting care burdens. From the science students' perspective, they proposed additional factors to include and ideas based on identified needs. A joint workshop for both schools is planned for November, where the high school students will collaborate on care design.
