The 3rd Practical Training Program for Fifth-Year Pharmacy Students Interning at Pharmacies in Kawasaki Conducted at iCONM

On September 18, we conducted the final practical training session (Phase 3) for this academic year's fifth-year pharmacy students. Thirty-eight fifth-year pharmacy students participating in training at pharmacies within Kawasaki City attended. Following the same format as the program held on May 12th, the session included: ① an introduction to iCONM/CHANGE, ② an overview of nursing duties, ③ a presentation on advocacy activities by pharmaceutical companies, ④ a tour of the iCONM facility, and ⑤ an exchange session with presenters and researchers. The discussion on multidisciplinary collaboration by Ms. Yagi, Managing Director of the Kawasaki Nursing Association, linked with the concept of intercultural exchange in iCONM's Magnet Area. During the exchange session, multidiciplenary training within careers became a topic of conversation. Participants learned the importance of not compartmentalizing duties as separate tasks, particularly in pharmacist-nurse collaboration. They recognized the necessity of prioritizing the benefits for patients and those receiving care above all else, without eliminating overlap.
