Fifth-Year Students from Faculty of Pharmacy living in Kawasaki City Educated at iCONM

On March 13, the Kawasaki Pharmaceutical Association hosted a practical training session for pharmacy students at iCONM. About 150 fifth-year pharmacy students living in the city participated, with the program is held three times a year in March, June, and September. In this first session, 43 students attended. The event began with a presentation on iCONM/CHANGE by Communications Manager Shimazaki, followed by speeches from Michiko Yagi, Executive Director of the Kawasaki Nursing Association, and Chihaya Shiragasawa from Astellas Pharma. Ms. Yagi highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in community healthcare, particularly emphasizing how the partnership between pharmacists and nurses enhances the quality of care. Dr. Shiragasawa discussed the current challenges of securing medical resources due to the declining birthrate and aging population, providing an opportunity to reflect on the actions that pharmaceutical companies and pharmacists should take.

After a tour of the iCONM facilities, Ms. Yagi, Dr. Shiragasawa, Dr. Kanda (iCONM researcher), and Dr. Shimazaki moved among the pharmacy students, who were divided into four groups, engaging in discussions about their future career paths and research topics.
