Second-Year Students from Junior High School Attached To Kawasaki Municipal Kawasaki High School Visit iCONM

On March 11, 118 second-year students from Junior High School Attached To Kawasaki Municipal Kawasaki High School, accompanied by six teachers, visited King SkyFront, where 40 of the students took a tour of iCONM. This visit is part of an annual initiative organized by the Coastal Area International Strategy Headquarters of Kawasaki City, aimed at educating students about the international strategic hub in Kawasaki’s coastal area and fostering Civic Pride through this engagement.

Initially, all 118 students gathered in the main conference room at LiSE (Kawasaki City Life Science and Environment Research Center) to learn about King SkyFront, along with the Tokyu REI Hotel, Shimadzu Corporation, Kanagawa Prefectural University of Health and Welfare, Central Institute for Medicine and Life Science, Kawasaki City Institute for Health and Safety Research, and iCONM. Afterward, they split into six groups to explore each facility. Two groups visited iCONM, where they examined the first floor focused on microdevice research and nanoscale material processing, as well as the research labs on the second to fourth floors dedicated to nano DDS research, along with the magnet area designed for cross-cultural communications.

The students shared feedback including comments like, “I realized the importance of delivering medication precisely to the target tissues,” “If there were an in-body hospital, I wouldn’t have to worry about illness,” “I understood the need for everyone to be able to care for those close to them due to the declining birthrate and aging population,” and “I felt that Kawasaki’s slogan, 'Colors Future,' is truly being reflected here.” These insights exceeded expectations, and we believe the students left with a strong sense of pride in Kawasaki City.
