Practitioner of Medical-Engineering Collaboration: Dr. Ichio Aoki, Senior Principal Investigator, QSR

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a technology that provides high spatial resolution and excellent soft tissue contrast, allowing real-time imaging of deep tissues. Compared to radiation-based methods like CT and PET, it is less invasive, and the development of theranostics, which combines treatment and diagnosis, is anticipated. Dr. Ichio Aoki is a leading figure in MRI research and has recently developed "iron oxide nano-NI contrast agents" for treatment-resistant cancers.

Dr. Aoki was born in Kitakyushu City and developed an interest in science and Eastern medicine. After studying at Meiji University of Integrative Medicine, he conducted MRI-related research at Kyoto University and later studied brain function at NIH. Upon returning to Japan, he was involved in fundamental MRI research at the National Institute of Radiological Sciences, participating in various projects.

Recently, he has been advancing research on contrast agents using nanoparticles and new technologies for detecting oxidative stress. Dr. Aoki engages in numerous international collaborative studies and values discussions with researchers, continuing to pursue creative research and development.
