Co-creating the Care System of the Future

Summary:

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) are establishing the "Kawasaki Care Design Consortium" as part of the "Co-creation Space Formation Support Program (COI-NEXT)" at the Kawasaki base. The care sector is facing a critical situation due to an increase in patients from aging and a decrease in healthcare workers. This project aims to create innovative products and services by incorporating engineering technologies.

In collaboration with the Kawasaki City Nursing Association, a thorough survey of nursing needs has been conducted, exploring ideas that companies can quickly commercialize. As the importance of home medical care grows, there is a demand for alleviating the burdens on nurses and improving working conditions. The nursing care market is projected to triple by 2050, highlighting the need for research and development to ease the workload of care workers.

The "Kawasaki Care Design Consortium" aims to connect local needs with corporate technologies and will hold a symposium to promote this initiative. Utilizing Kawasaki City’s unique certification system (KIS), the consortium plans to approach both domestic and international markets. The organizers express their desire to contribute to the care sector through collaboration among companies.
