Foreign Researchers, Comfortable to Work with Sabina Quader, Deputy Principal Research Scientist at iCONM in Kawasaki
Summary:
In Project CHANGE, Sabina Quader, who is in charge of global partnerships, emphasizes that bringing together people from diverse backgrounds can generate new ideas. Originally from Bangladesh, she obtained her PhD from Griffith University in Australia and came to Japan in 2010. She has conducted research at the University of Tokyo and has been working on developing nanoparticles that effectively release anticancer drugs since the establishment of iCONM. She is particularly focused on research related to pediatric brain tumors, hoping to free children from illness. Among the 105 researchers at iCONM, 25% are women and about 40% are foreign nationals. As new researchers often face challenges adapting to life in Japan, she actively fosters a friendly environment by reaching out and organizing events.
