Fifth-Year Students from Faculty of Pharmacy living in Kawasaki City Educated at iCONM

At iCONM, we conduct training sessions for fifth-year students from Faculty of Pharmacy residing in Kawasaki City, in response to a request from the Kawasaki Pharmacists Association. This year, we held the second training session on June 13, attended by 38 aspiring pharmacists.

During the 60-minute lecture, we introduced iCONM/CHANGE and discussed the field of pharmacokinetics and nanomedicine as a means to reduce 'wasteful spending on medications.' We also showcased the research being conducted at iCONM. Given that these young individuals will soon be working as pharmacists in Kawasaki City, we encouraged them to reflect on the role of pharmacists amid the accelerating aging population, emphasizing the importance of interprofessional collaboration, particularly in regional healthcare.

Representatives from Astellas Pharma, who participate in CHANGE, explained their 'eco-activities for healthcare resource conservation' and sought cooperation in the proper utilization of dwindling healthcare resources. Many participants were able to envision pharmacists who can effectively manage polypharmacy and medication management in collaboration with physicians and nurses.

After the lecture, we conducted a facility tour, allowing them to experience what a world-leading nanomedicine research facility entails.
