Outreach Class Conducted at the Welfare Department at Kawasaki High School
On September 11, we held an outreach class for third-year students in the Welfare Department at Kawasaki High School. The theme was the changes in care systems and daily life due to the declining birthrate and aging population.
The session began with an introduction to the initiatives of Project CHANGE by Makoto Shimazaki, Project Sub-Leader, followed by insights into the real world of nursing from Michiko Yagi, Executive Director of the Kawasaki Nursing Association. Afterward, the students were divided into five groups to engage in group work. Their task was to discuss how a super-aged society might impact community healthcare and how this would affect people's everyday lives.
Despite the short 20-minute timeframe, each group generated a wealth of ideas and engaged in thoughtful discussions among their members. The continuation of this activity (solution phase) is scheduled for November.
Representatives from the Kawasaki City Board of Education and the Kawasaki Pharmacists Association also attended, listening to the voices of the current high school students who will become the stakeholders of the future.
