Fifth-Year Students from Faculty of Pharmacy living in Kawasaki City Educated at iCONM
On September 12, a training session for fifth-year students from Faculty of Pharmacy residing in Kawasaki City was held at the Kawasaki Life Science and Environmental Research Center (LiSE), organized by the Kawasaki Pharmacists Association. This year’s third session attracted 24 students.
During the one-hour lecture, Communication Manager Shimazaki introduced the research initiatives at iCONM aimed at reducing wasteful spending on medications, emphasizing the significance of 'nanomedicine' to the aspiring pharmacists. Furthermore, as various challenges related to the declining birthrate and aging population came to light, the students seriously considered the importance of interprofessional collaboration for pharmacists.
Additionally, Chihaya Shiragasawa from Astellas Pharma, a participant in CHANGE, discussed 'eco-activities for healthcare resource conservation.' This presentation likely helped the students envision their future roles as pharmacists capable of managing polypharmacy and overseeing medication management and leftover medications.
