The 3rd ELSI/RRI Study Session
On November 20, the internal colloquium on ELSI (Ethical, Legal and Social Issues)/RRI(Responsible Research and Innovation)was held.
The lecturer was Prof. Tamami Fukushi from Tokyo Online University and the chair was Prof. Shintaro Sengoku from Institute of Science Tokyo, who is the Theme 5 Leader of the Project CHANGE.
Neurosciences often involve ethical issues, and with advancement of technology for measuring neurofunctions, a new academic field known as Neuroethics has emerged to study the societal impact of neuroscience research.
By referring past cases, it was demonstrated that activities are being conducted not only to tackle challenges in neuroscience research but also to highlight its social significance. It was clearly explained that ELSI itself is in a state of evolving.
