Registration Now Open for the 5th CHANGE Symposium

The COI-NEXT Kawasaki Center (Project CHANGE) will hold its 5th Public Symposium on December 4.

This year, Dr. Hikaru Tanaka, author of *The Meiji Nightingale: The Story of Kazuo Ozeki*—which served as the basis for the NHK morning drama *Kaze Kaoru*—will deliver a special lecture.

In an era without antibiotics, she significantly reduced the mortality rate from infectious diseases prevalent at the time through rigorous hygiene management and dedicated nursing care.

Following the lecture, a roundtable discussion with Dr. Tanaka is scheduled. As depicted in the final scene of “The Scent of the Wind,” the modern nursing field has changed dramatically due to scientific advancements in materials, semiconductors, IT, and other areas. However, the essence of nursing—the ability to “sense what patients are thinking, feeling, and wanting, even when they do not voice it”—remains unchanged.

Furthermore, shifting our focus to the near future, we will hold a panel discussion on the theme “Nursing in the Age of AI.”
