mRNA encoding Type IX collagen halts the progression of osteoarthritis
Prof. Keiji Iitaka, Principal Research Scientist at iCONM (Professor at Osaka University), and his team—who are participating in Research and Development Project 2 (Longevity Technology)—discovered that Type IX collagen (Col9) helps suppress the progression of osteoarthritis. They demonstrated its efficacy by administering nanomicelles loaded with mRNA encoding this collagen to a rat model.
