Participate in a workshop hosted by Kawasaki Nursing Association

On December 10th, scientists from Project CHANGE participated as facilitators in a workshop hosted by Kawasaki Nursing Association. This is an annual event aimed at recruiting participants from approximately 13,500 nurses working in Kawasaki City to share problems in the workplace and find solutions.

This year’s theme is “Preventing Medical Accidents.”

In the unbalanced situation where the number of patients is increasing due to an aging population while the number of healthcare workers is decreasing due to a declining birthrate, there is growing concern about the increased risk of medical accidents, particularly in care settings that rely heavily on human labor.

CHANGE scientists who hope to reduce the burden on healthcare workers by integrating engineering knowledge and technology into care settings served as facilitators for each group and conducted discussions aimed at solving this issue.

First, there was a presentation on CHANGE and a shadowing report by Dr. Yukihiro Kanda, Project Scientist along with a case study on fall prevention using AI and engineering technology by Dr. Shusuke Sato, Senior Research Scientist. Those served as an effective icebreaker for the discussion and resulted in a workshop with lively conversation throughout.

Also for the CHANGE scientists, it was a valuable opportunity to gain deeper insights into the field.
