Diversity-oriented research: International school in Yokohama observes and experiments
Summary:
An event for international high school students to experience scientific experiments was held at the Innovation Center of NanoMedicine (iCONM). This was the first participation from Horizon Japan International School in Kanagawa, where 34 students engaged in facility tours and hands-on experiments. iCONM focuses on developing treatments for intractable diseases and new infections, particularly cancer treatment. Under the leadership of Center Director Kazunori Kataoka, the center is advancing cutting-edge research, including the development of virus-sized nanoparticles that effectively release anticancer drugs to cancer cells and an "in-body hospital" that detects disease precursors. This event served as an opportunity to enhance young people's interest in science.
