Care Innovation to Create New Businesses #1: Making Geriatric Disease a Thing of the Past
A society where aging is controlled and everyone can live their maximum life span in good health and good spirits. Medical treatment and preventive medicine that will realize this dream-like world are approaching reality. Aging is the biggest cause of so-called aging-related diseases such as arteriosclerosis, dementia, and muscle weakness. If aging can be controlled, healthy life expectancy can be extended and the burden of medical care and long-term care can be greatly reduced. We can envision a different future than the one in which we have been plagued by increasing social security costs. We interviewed Prof. Makoto Nakanishi of the Institute of Medical Science, University of Tokyo, who is a leading researcher on the control of aging.
